Skill Progression

The General news

Any class or profession can learn any other spell or skill for the most part, some just cost more money.

For example you are a Rogue and you want to learn how to use swords, since 1h Slashing is a warrior skill, the skill would cost a warrior 200 G to learn, but as a thief, it would cost 800 G to learn. Why? A warrior trains for most of their life in the sword arts, but a thief, to learn it, is not in their nature, they spend more time on rouge type skills, with more money spent, they can learn the skills in a shorter amount of time.

Or another example, if you are a mage, and want to learn “cure serious wounds” you can buy the spell for 600 G but it costs a cleric 50 G.

Our intention with this sytem is to add player deversity. You will see Warriors healing themselves and casting a fireball while hacking and slashing! To do this requires allot of money and time training, but its possible.

Characters when they hit level 20 are able to specialize their character, if you are a rogue, and want to focas on a specific aspect of your rogue nature you may do so, and gain automatic skills as well as cost decreases on specific skills to your sphere

For example, you specialize your rogue to a bounty hunter, you automaticially gain the skill capture, and the disguise skill – to purchase skills like trap, advanced disguise, parry, shield use and other type skills, will cost you way less, then if you were a say a Paladin and wanted to learn disguise.

Also, some skills are just plain not available. Part of the benefit of being specialized is that you have certain quest spells, that can only be used by a certain class/specialization combination.

For example, the spell Delayed Area Fireball, can only be used by a sorceror

Or the spell Holy Radiance which deals area damage to all creatures opositite your allignment is only used by paladins and zealots.

The thoughts behind this, is though, most classes and professions and specializations give you the ability to learn really any skill or spell in the game with an enhanced cost of its not in your sphere of reality, some spells are clearly beyond you, and only available to certain specs. The rational is to add a huge amount of diversity, but to limit the truely powerful spells to that class only, or shared between 1 prime class and a specialization.
